Our take on Town of Night
The defining detail is its manual mapping requirement: dungeon exploration is paired with drawing routes on paper using ink, making navigation part of the play structure rather than a purely on-screen task.
What is Town of Night?
Town of Night is a first-person dungeon-crawling RPG set in a town built above a network of dangerous dungeons.
Players control Corr Algrimm, a self-proclaimed hero and sword fighter investigating the source of the monsters. The game combines exploration, battles, looting, survival, and character progression across a 5–10 hour campaign. Different party members can be recruited before descending into the dungeons, allowing party composition to shape each expedition. Mapping is a physical part of the experience: players are told to bring ink and paper to draw their own routes. The game takes inspiration from Shining in the Darkness, Etrian Odyssey, Diablo, and Wizardry.
