Our take on Torn
The VR presentation and story-first structure prioritize investigation, environmental puzzles, and atmosphere over combat variety and rapid action. That trade-off gives the mansion and its machinery room to carry the experience, but leaves less space for players seeking a combat-driven adventure.
What is Torn?
Explore an abandoned mansion connected to a strange alternate dimension in this dark science-fiction mystery built for VR.
As video blogger Katherine Patterson, investigate the home of Dr. Lawrence Talbot, a scientist who vanished 64 years ago and remains alive without his body. The opening focuses on narrative puzzles as machines around the mansion are restored. The story then shifts toward character-focused discovery as Patterson investigates Talbot and the realm he calls The Parallel.
A gravity device activates machinery and lets players throw objects, construct towers, and topple them. The mansion functions as an explorable VR environment filled with experiments, mechanisms, and references to classic science fiction. The game includes an orchestral score and writing by Neill Glancy and Susan O’Connor.
