Our take on Tokyo Necro
Rather than treating visual-novel action as text and still images alone, the game places animated fights and a first-person interactive view inside its story structure. Its frozen cyberpunk Tokyo also replaces the genre’s more familiar contemporary or fantasy backdrops with geothermal survival and undead biotech.
What is Tokyo Necro?
Set during a future ice age, Tokyo Necro follows So’un and Ethica, two Living Dead Stalkers working as contract killers in a snow-covered Tokyo.
Geothermal heat pipes keep the city habitable while necromancers use biotech to reanimate corpses and send undead minions into the city. During a mission for the Karasuzumi Living Dead Stalker Office, the pair find a girl abducted by a necromancer for an unknown purpose. This science-fiction visual novel combines its narrative with animated combat scenes and an interactive first-person display showing the characters’ actions. The story takes place in a cyberpunk setting populated by guns, cybernetic enhancements, the living dead, and a city surviving beneath a frozen wasteland.
