Our take on TITANKIN: Prologue
Its short prologue format keeps the adventure contained, but that comes at the cost of the extended campaign length associated with a 50-plus-hour JRPG. The focus is on a compact opening chapter rather than a sprawling saga.
What is TITANKIN: Prologue?
TITANKIN: Prologue is the opening chapter of a turn-based JRPG about twins Jorden and Torden, whose family mystery leads them on a quest.
Its pixel-art setting draws on Celtic mythology, with creatures and characters inspired by stories from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and elsewhere. Battles involve learning enemy strengths and weaknesses and choosing tactics to defeat them. Defeated TITANS yield KINSTONES; equipping one changes a character’s stat growth and lets that character summon the TITAN in battle. Enemies appear on the map and may chase or flee, rather than appearing randomly. The game is balanced so progression does not require grinding, and dungeon save points restore the party. This is a short opening act rather than a 50-plus-hour JRPG.
How TITANKIN: Prologue plays
- 01Titan KINSTONES
- Defeating a TITAN provides a KINSTONE that changes a character’s stat growth when equipped and enables that TITAN to be summoned in battle.
- 02Visible Map Enemies
- Enemies can pursue the party or run away, replacing random encounter triggers.
- 03Restoring Save Points
- Dungeon save points replenish the entire party.
- 04Myth-Inspired Creatures
- Recruitable beings draw on Irish, Scottish, Welsh, and other myth traditions.
