Our take on Timberman: The Big Adventure
The focus on compact platforming levels and construction puzzles leaves less room for broad exploration or deeper role-playing systems. Cooperative play is local, and it requires a controller, limiting the two-player format to that setup.
What is Timberman: The Big Adventure?
Timberman: The Big Adventure is a 2D platformer with a classic 16-bit pixel-art style.
It follows a lumberjack on a rescue mission involving a bear friend, Evil Corp, and the forest. Progress combines platforming with axe-based movement, woodcutting, bridge construction, and mini-puzzles. The axe and boomerang can fire projectiles, while combo-based combat supports battles against enemies and three bosses. The campaign covers three hazardous worlds and dozens of levels. Play is available in a single-player story mode or local two-player co-op. A controller is required for local cooperation. The game also includes platforming mechanics built around the axe.
How Timberman: The Big Adventure plays

- The axe supports movement through stages as well as woodcutting and bridge construction.
- 02Bridge-Building Puzzles

- 03Combo Combat
- Fighting uses a combo system alongside axe and boomerang projectiles.
- 04Three Boss Battles
- The campaign includes three unique boss encounters across its three worlds.
- 05Local Co-op
- Two players can take part in the adventure together, with a controller required for local cooperation.
Timberman: The Big Adventure compared to similar games
Unlike Jusant, which centers on climbing, stamina management, exploration, and environmental discovery, Timberman: The Big Adventure combines platforming with combat, wood gathering, bridge construction, and boss fights. Sundered: Eldritch Edition is described as a chaotic metroidvania, while Timberman uses a defined campaign across three worlds with dozens of levels and optional local two-player co-op.
