Our take on the World According to Girl
Rather than centering on combat runs, this deck-building roguelike pairs card selection with raising a character over a set span of years. Its recurring tests are dialogue encounters, and the character's development shapes the ending.
What is the World According to Girl?
In a world nearing collapse, humanity puts its hopes in a young girl who may become its savior.
As her administrator, select cards representing human resources and their effects to shape her development. The game combines deck-building roguelike play with a caregiving framework. Each year has 6 seasons, for 42 turns across 7 years. At each year’s end, the girl faces a dialogue-based assessment with the Inquisitor; use her abilities and accumulated memories to continue the plan. Her abilities also influence which ending unfolds. The story follows the girl and the world through the consequences of the rescue mission humanity has planned.
How the World According to Girl plays
- 01Card-based development
- Cards can change seasonal costs, affect status through entertainers, or trigger random emergencies and surprises.
- 02Annual assessments
- At the end of each year, a dialogue encounter tests the girl's abilities and memories.
- 03Variable endings
- The ending depends on the abilities she develops.
