Our take on The Troop
The Troop prioritises deliberate unit control and replayable tactical scenarios over exact historical reconstruction. That choice gives players control over each action, but the missions remain fictional and shaped for gameplay rather than serving as precise recreations of Normandy operations.
What is The Troop?
Set in Normandy during World War II, this turn-based tactical game places players in command of infantry, motorised, and armoured units.
British, Canadian, and German forces fight across over 30 maps in Story, Skirmish, Campaign, and Battlegroup modes. Campaigns connect historically inspired scenarios, with fallen units lost permanently and surviving veterans gaining experience. Battlegroup operations last 5–9 missions and use a randomised force that persists throughout the operation. The AI opponent follows the same rules and restrictions as the player, while varying its deployment and tactics between replays. Difficulty settings adjust rules, features, and available information. The missions are fictional situations set within the broader Normandy campaign rather than exact historical recreations.
