Our take on THE SPIRIT LIFT
Rather than treating death as a simple failure state, the game makes restarting the night part of its story and progression. Its deckbuilding structure is paired with changing hotel layouts, teenage relationships, riddles, and evidence hunting instead of focusing only on combat optimization.
What is THE SPIRIT LIFT?
A retro horror deckbuilder roguelike set in the 1990s, The Spirit Lift follows eight teenagers who enter a magical elevator in a haunted hotel.
Choose a trio whose relationships, abilities, backstories, and starting deck shape each run. Explore 13 changing floors, gather cards, gold, and gear, fight creatures, and respond to unpredictable events on the way to a penthouse boss. Equipment cards can be upgraded, with four deck focuses to combine. Death rewinds the night, while repeated attempts unlock characters, bosses, and events. Spirit points earned from wins or losses can customize later trips. Riddles, evidence, secrets, and the elevator’s purpose add story progression.
