Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking one consistent gameplay loop may bounce off the shifts between rituals, enemy waves, and bead collection.
- Those who dislike escalating enemy pressure may hit a wall when Bloodfall makes spirits enraged and stronger.
- Players looking for climbing-focused exploration may find the supernatural survival structure mismatched.
- Players seeking a multiplayer shooter may not find the group-combat format described for other action games.
Our take on The Recurrence
The bounce point comes when the game changes modes. Players who want one stable rhythm may lose interest when EMF-guided altar rituals give way to wave combat, or when the later objective requires finding all 59 rosary beads.
What is The Recurrence?
The Recurrence follows Nia Summers as she enters a nightmare filled with hostile spirits while searching for her daughter, Blaire.
One mode uses an EMF reader to locate spiritual crosses and complete altar rituals before escaping. Another sends waves of evil spirits against Nia, with sacrifices offered to satisfy the Blood River. A third mode centers on exploration and collection, requiring all 59 beads of a rosary to be recovered before departure. Nia can use a flashlight to burn entities in the darkness. Bloodfall adds escalating danger by making enemies enraged and stronger as the night progresses. The game combines supernatural equipment, ritual tasks, combat encounters, and a collection-focused objective across its three nightmare modes.
