Our take on The Overseer: Field Trials
The defining detail is the looped memory check: each trial depends on recalling the normal setup, identifying what changed, and preserving progress through repeated correct reports.
What is The Overseer: Field Trials?
Play as a paranormal agent conducting field trials in a partially controlled environment.
The game uses repeating loops across two consecutive locations: first, remember the normal setup, then decide whether an anomaly has appeared. Correct reports build progress toward the Field Agent badge, while a mistake resets that progress. More than 50 anomalies include harmless reality distortions and entities that can break into the world. When an entity appears, running becomes necessary, but the anomaly still needs to be reported. This atmospheric walking simulator tests observation, memory, and reaction skills over a stated play time of 60+ minutes. It includes separate audio settings for different sound sources, copyright-free in-game music, and full-color graphics with modern lighting.
How The Overseer: Field Trials plays
- 01Loop-based investigations
- Each trial requires comparing a later loop with the remembered default arrangement.
- 02Progress reset errors
- An incorrect report removes progress built toward the Field Agent badge.
- 03Entity encounters
- Some anomalies allow entities to enter the environment, requiring the agent to run.
- 04Separate audio controls
- Audio settings divide different sound sources into separate categories.
- 05Two locations
- The field trials take place across two consecutive areas.
