Our take on The Mysteries of Baroque
The protagonist’s resurrection is temporary: the procedure reverses over time, putting survival on a countdown while the story unfolds.
What is The Mysteries of Baroque?
The Mysteries of Baroque is a 200,000-word, text-only Gothic horror story in which choices shape the narrative.
Resurrected by Dr. Holofernes, the protagonist begins to die again as the procedure that revived them wears off. The story follows their efforts to find their killers, protect loved ones, and decide what kind of life to build in Baroque. Players can pursue romance, seek continued survival through the Holofernes Procedure, bargain with a dark god, or pursue revenge alone. The journey ranges from subterranean slums to wealthy districts and the Grand Guignol Theater. Choices also shape the protagonist’s identity, alliances with the city’s factions, and use of occult knowledge, inventions, and clockwork body augmentations. The game has no graphics or sound effects.
