Our take on Fog of War: The Battle for Cerberus
Military science-fiction stories often center on defeating an enemy force. This one also puts the protagonist’s standing with fellow officers and the colonists’ response to a plague vaccine at the heart of the choices, alongside the rebellion.
What is Fog of War: The Battle for Cerberus?
This 170,000-word interactive novel follows a newly graduated sublieutenant given command of the Astral Corps’ Fifth Platoon on the planet Cerberus.
The platoon faces a rebel army led by Major Zhang while a deadly plague spreads among the local population. Choices shape the story, including whether to fight or negotiate with rebels, remain loyal to the Astral Corps or join the rebellion, and persuade colonists to accept an incoming vaccine. The story also includes romance with characters in the command structure and platoon.
Players can choose a male, female, or non-binary character, and a straight, gay, or bi orientation. The game is entirely text-based, with no graphics or sound effects, and is set in the universe of the Virtues of War novels.
