Our take on The Mimic
The page emphasizes a story-driven campaign and a predator premise, but the described play hinges on a strict movement link: the Mimic copies each move, and its death ends the run. The available modes are campaign, local co-op, and time trials; the editor is identified as beta.
What is The Mimic?
The Mimic is a single-player platform puzzle game set on a human-colonized planet, where an escaped predator hunts the remaining crew member.
Players control an engineer while the Mimic mirrors each move. If the Mimic dies, the engineer dies too; getting too close is also fatal. Levels combine these linked movements with hazards such as security grids, malfunctioning defenses, and dead ends. The campaign uses crew logs and documents to reveal the mission, base, and events surrounding the missing crew. The game includes over 85 levels, local two-player co-op, a time trial mode, and full Xbox and Steam Controller support. A level editor with Steam Workshop integration is included in beta, for creating and uploading puzzles.
How The Mimic plays

- 04Local co-op
- The game includes a local mode for two players.
- 05Time trial mode
- A separate mode puts the puzzle-solving levels on a timer.
