CasualIs The Matriarch worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Groups of 2 to 8 players who enjoy social deduction mixed with hide-and-seek
- Players who want alternating escape and hunter roles within the same party game
- Friends seeking private multiplayer sessions with adjustable maps and round lengths
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a solo experience will hit the multiplayer requirement at the start of a match.
- Players who prefer direct combat or clearly assigned identities may struggle when they must imitate automated workers and judge suspicious behavior.
- Players looking for a fixed campaign or linear progression may find the customizable party-match structure too limited.
Our take on The Matriarch
The bounce point arrives when a player must act like an automated worker under observation. Anyone who dislikes social deception may hit the wall during the first patrol, when ordinary movement and task behavior become part of staying hidden.
What is The Matriarch?
The Matriarch is a multiplayer hide-and-seek game for 2 to 8 players, set in a convent where every nun is controlled by an imposter.
Nuns trying to escape must imitate computer-controlled workers, avoid attracting the Matriarch’s attention, dig underground to locate an exit, and survive the night. The Matriarch patrols the convent, watches the nuns, identifies suspicious behavior, and sacrifices the players considered sinners. Matches can use different maps, round durations, and randomly assigned Matriarchs. Players can join public servers or create private sessions. The game also includes several sacrifice devices, such as a giant cross, guillotine, pyre, and venomous snakes, with additional maps and customization options delivered through free updates.
