Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking combat-focused gameplay may hit a wall because the described objectives center on puzzles, obstacles, exploration, and evasion.
- Players wanting a relaxed or purely linear pace may bounce off the following presence and the need to navigate multiple environments.
- Players looking for a bright, contemporary setting may not suit the 1964 Maine location, abandoned property, and alternate-dimension elements.
Our take on The Lighthouse
The bounce point arrives when exploration becomes pressure rather than sightseeing: players must work through environmental puzzles and obstacles while a dangerous presence follows them. Anyone expecting a purely narrative investigation may hit that pursuit system before the story can carry the experience.
What is The Lighthouse?
The Lighthouse is a first-person thriller set in Maine on February 19, 1964.
Private investigator James Irvine travels to an abandoned property belonging to the wealthy Wescott family to search for Lily Beaumont, a woman missing for more than two years. Exploration moves through multiple environments containing period-specific puzzles and physical obstacles. Players use the lighthouse beam and a flashlight to navigate while avoiding a dangerous presence. The story combines Irvine’s investigation with glimpses of alternate dimensions and a neo-noir setting. The case begins after Lily’s mother sends Irvine a letter, an address, and a yellow lily, asking him to search the lighthouse for her daughter.
