The Last Birdling follows Bimonia, one of the last Birdlings, and Tayo, a human child, as they form a friendship despite hostility between their species.

A progress tracker records the endings and indicates how to pursue the remaining outcomes. The game also includes a glossary that expands its lore through linked entries encountered during the story.
