Our take on The Infernal Abyss
The two-mode structure trades uniform challenge for accessibility: Casual adds guidance and reduces enemy and boss pressure, while Classic removes much of that support. Players choosing the latter receive a more hostile experience but fewer clues during exploration.
What is The Infernal Abyss?
The Infernal Abyss is a single-player 2D horror adventure with pixel graphics and a disturbing atmosphere.
The story follows Nick, Steve, and Veta after a broken friendship leads one character into a nightmarish fate. Progress involves moving through locations, collecting items needed to continue, and discovering cassettes that reveal more about the characters. Reapers introduce different gameplay mechanics. The main game offers two difficulty settings. Casual reduces enemy strength, provides footprints toward objects, and makes bosses less demanding. Classic limits guidance and gives enemies more aggressive behavior. The game also includes small Backrooms-related elements, such as moving through levels and a version of level zero.
