Is The Good Life worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who want a murder mystery combined with open-world daily-life activities
- RPG fans interested in photography, debt repayment, and money-management systems
- Explorers who want traversal abilities that differ between human, cat, and dog forms
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly focused mystery may bounce off the added gardening, cooking, social, and personal-maintenance systems.
- Players who want conventional combat-focused RPG progression may hit a wall with the emphasis on investigation, photography, exploration, and daily routines.
- Players uninterested in managing money and basic needs may find the debt and daily-life systems demanding.
- Players looking for a linear setting may not enjoy the open-world exploration and optional town activities.
Our take on The Good Life
The bounce point arrives when the investigation is joined by routine management: earning money, staying fed and clean, getting enough sleep, and handling debt. Players expecting a straightforward murder mystery may lose momentum once photography, gardening, cooking, socializing, and animal-form exploration become part of the regular loop.
What is The Good Life?
Play as Naomi Hayward, a journalist investigating Rainy Woods for The Morning Bell while dealing with debt.
Take photographs for newspaper assignments and residents, capture trending events for the Flamingo social network, and build a follower count to earn money. Investigate a murder alongside the mystery of townspeople who become cats and dogs after dark. Naomi can also transform into a cat for jumping and climbing or a dog for tracking people by scent. Daily activities include growing vegetables, cooking, exploring, drinking at the pub, sleeping, eating, and staying clean. The open world includes shrines, camping grounds, fields, and hills that can be explored on foot or while riding a sheep.
