We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players of branching visual stories who want routes from two protagonists’ perspectives
- Adventure fans interested in character secrets and interconnected schemes
- Players who enjoy puzzles and varied competitive challenges rather than a single repeated game type
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Readers seeking a tightly linear story may find the 16 routes and branching paths a poor match.
- Players looking for a single consistent challenge style may find the mix of trust games, chance, social reads, and brawls uneven.
- Those seeking an action game centered on continuous real-time combat may prefer a different format.
Our take on The Game of Fourtune
The many-route structure trades a single, continuous viewpoint for perspectives that can diverge, including routes where Clyde and Devon become opponents. Following the broader mystery also means moving through character-specific paths rather than receiving one fixed account of the competition.
What is The Game of Fourtune?
Clyde and Devon are trapped with 14 strangers in a series of life-or-death games.
Across four rounds, participants face different trials, and only one can have a wish granted. Routes can place the two protagonists on opposing teams, where they may have to fight each other. The story follows both characters as they encounter the other players’ motives, secrets, and plans. Sixteen routes split between Clyde’s and Devon’s perspectives feature different games and interactions, including challenges based on trust, chance, reading opponents or teammates, and combat. A flowchart tracks progress and branches, showing which paths remain to be found. Exploring routes reveals more about the participants and a wider plot behind the competition.
