Our take on The End of You
The game’s concentrated emotional focus limits its scope: the experience stays with one relationship, one apartment, and the process of sorting through its remnants rather than offering a broad setting or varied subject matter.
What is The End of You?
The End of You is a short narrative game about lost love, memories, and the difficult process of reaching closure.
As Walter, players move through an apartment filled with reminders of a past relationship. They interact with ordinary household objects, uncover memories, and decide how belongings such as a mug, toothbrush, and cassette tape should be handled. Visions of Emily appear in rooms including the kitchen, bedroom, and balcony. Players also choose what Walter says during imagined conversations with her. The story addresses heartbreak and mental health as Walter attempts to pack away the objects connected to his past. Its central experience is a gradual confrontation with memories, emotional pain, and the need to say goodbye.
