Our take on The End of History
Rather than centering a heroic campaign around direct control, this RPG makes observation and intervention the main structure. NPCs continue pursuing ambitions, forming alliances, and carrying grudges independently, while the player tries to keep a collapsing world from reaching its limit.
What is The End of History?
Play as a nameless wanderer in a medieval sandbox where service, rulership, rebellion, marriage, and observation are all possible paths.
NPCs pursue their own goals, form relationships, inherit grudges, marry, found factions, and act whether the player intervenes or not. Armies require supplies, prolonged wars damage land, and kingdoms can advance from swords and bows to firearms, cannon wagons, and flying battleships. Players can manage fiefs, conduct diplomacy, spread rumors, command forces, or support another claimant. A Collapse advances through war, revenge, and instability, while prosperity and diplomacy can slow it. Each save lasts two in-game years, with progress carrying into the full version.
How The End of History plays
- 01Independent NPC lives
- Characters pursue personal ambitions, relationships, factions, and vendettas without waiting for player intervention.
- 02Fief administration
- Lords can collect taxes, develop farms and trade, and fund institutions or neglect their holdings.
- 03Changing warfare
- Research can move the world from medieval weapons toward firearms, cannon wagons, and flying battleships.
- 04Collapse management
- War, revenge, and instability advance the Collapse, while diplomacy, prosperity, and social tolerance slow it.
- 05Emergent histories
- Each playthrough produces a distinct sequence of events rather than following a predetermined scenario.
