Our take on The Dweller
The presentation emphasizes the monster’s violent objectives, while the main activity is constrained puzzle navigation. Reaching each archaeologist depends on rock-bound movement, boulders, and mechanics introduced during play.
What is The Dweller?
Play as an ancient monster awakened by archaeologists exploring an underground city.
Each level presents a puzzle in which movement is restricted to cave rock, requiring boulders and other mechanics to navigate the ruins and reach the intruders. New mechanics, including teleportation, appear during the game. A non-linear map connects more than 50 levels, while completing stages unlocks over 25 notes about the archaeologists, a clandestine organization, and the monster’s origins. The objectives include scaring, crushing, and devouring the people who enter the ruins.
How The Dweller plays
- 01Rock-bound movement
- The monster can travel only through cave rock, making movement routes part of each puzzle.
- 02Boulder navigation
- Boulders in the caverns are used while moving through the underground ruins.
- 03Teleportation mechanic
- Teleportation is one of the mechanics introduced during play.
- 04Non-linear level map
- The game presents more than 50 levels through a map that does not follow one fixed sequence.
- 05Story note unlocks
- Completing levels reveals more than 25 notes about the archaeologists, a clandestine organization, and the monster’s origins.
