Our take on The Ables: Freepoint High
The defining mechanic is the Absorber’s ability to take on powers associated with surrounding characters, including flight, invisibility, telepathy, and pyrokinesis.
What is The Ables: Freepoint High?
The player controls an Absorber, an uncommon hero who can borrow abilities from nearby people.
After arriving in another town and discovering this gift, the protagonist faces an assault by the Believers against the community and Freepoint High. The adventure centers on saving friends, confronting the Cardinal’s forces, and uncovering the extent of the hero’s powers. Inspired by classic Metroidvania platform games, it features fire manipulation, mind reading, rapid movement, enhanced strength, giant form, energy blasts from the eyes, invisibility, and flight. The setting comes from Jeremy Scott’s young-adult novel The Ables, accompanied by a musical score from Ronald Jenkees.
