Our take on The 257th Element
The page devotes substantial space to world lore, locations, and the voice cast, but gives little explanation of how the player interacts with the story. It also presents both the 256th and 257th element in different parts of the synopsis, creating a noticeable premise discrepancy.
What is The 257th Element?
Set in a future Tokyo, The 257th Element follows Japanese high school student Masakazu Tokimune as he navigates humor, mystery, and romance.
The story centers on Araraginium, a substance created by scientist Hikojuro Araki that can generate life. After an accident scatters it across Tokyo, people who died during the period from the experiment to 72 hours earlier begin returning with their memories intact. These beings, called Araragi Humans, disappear when unobserved, leading the government to monitor them through surveillance devices and its Araragi Watcher organization. Locations include a futuristic high school, a Pacific island formed after the experiment, and a café with retro games, manga, and bowling. English full voice was added on 23 June.
