Our take on Tetra Dungeon
The grid-and-card design creates a focused tactical loop, but it also limits the game to a relatively low-difficulty experience. Players seeking demanding runs may find that accessibility comes at the cost of sustained challenge.
What is Tetra Dungeon?
Tetra Dungeon combines rogue-like progression, card combat, and Tetris-style block placement.
Players select cards showing different shapes and position them on a 5x5 dungeon grid, dealing damage across enemy rows or columns. Three classes use distinct systems: the Swordsman combines straight-sword and slash cards for row attacks, the Mage uses elemental spells and spell combinations, and the Puppet Master continually adjusts puppet units on the board in a tower-defense-style approach. The game currently contains 310 card types, including about 90 for each class and 40 shared cards. Its stated difficulty is relatively low, allowing most players to complete a playthrough.

Tetra Dungeon compared to similar games
Shogun Showdown also combines turn-based combat, deck building, upgrades, and rogue-like progression, but it centers on positioning, attack timing, and tile upgrades rather than placing shaped cards on a 5x5 grid. Tetra Dungeon additionally divides its combat systems among three classes, including a puppet-focused class, while the description of Shogun Showdown emphasizes building one deck before confronting the Shogun.
