Play it if you…
Good fit- Single-player strategy fans who want turn-based combat and exploration
- Roguelike players who enjoy adapting to changing maps, enemies, and item finds
- Players interested in tactics built around distinct character abilities and enemy conversion
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want a fixed map and predictable enemy placements will encounter randomized layouts and positions.
- Players seeking weapon-based tactics for every character may hit a wall with Nae, who cannot use weapons.
- Players looking for multiplayer modes may not find a fit in this single-player game.
Our take on Tetra Cube
Players who expect to equip both characters with weapons may hit a wall when controlling Nae: the game explicitly gives weapon use to Dio, not Nae. Her hacking ability offers another tactical route, but it requires players to work around that character difference.
What is Tetra Cube?
Tetra Cube is a single-player, turn-based strategy roguelike about Hunters Nae and Dio, sent to investigate a disaster linked to an unknown Cube at Alpha Centauri's Science Institute.
Players explore maps, develop the characters, and fight enemy threats. Map layouts, enemy positions, and item finds change randomly, requiring decisions based on each run's circumstances. Nae and Dio have different combat strengths: Dio uses weapons, while Nae cannot. Nae can also hack enemies and convert them into allies, making hacking choices part of the battle plan. Survivors remain in the laboratory after the attack, and players enlist their help to meet their objectives.
How Tetra Cube plays
- 01Character-specific tactics
- Dio can use weapons, while Nae's combat approach relies on other options.
- 02Enemy hacking
- Nae can turn opponents into allies, changing the forces available in a fight.
- 03Randomized runs
- Map layouts, enemy locations, and item pickups vary between runs.
- 04Survivor assistance
- People left alive in the laboratory can assist with the characters' objectives.
Tetra Cube compared to similar games
Shogun Showdown also uses turn-based combat and roguelike structure, but its description centers on positioning, attack tiles, combos, and building a deck of skills. Tetra Cube instead emphasizes exploring randomized maps, developing two characters with different combat abilities, and Nae's option to hack enemies into allies.
