Our take on Taste of Power

Players who are comfortable with battlefield tactics may still bounce when the economy and infrastructure systems enter the picture. Workers, goods, technologies, cities, and caravan choices compete for attention before the combat tools can be used effectively.

What is Taste of Power?

Set in an imagined medieval era, this strategy game has Europe, China, and the Middle East competing for control.

Select one of three factions, expand urban centers, collect materials, make goods, enlist soldiers, and investigate new technologies. Construction is streamlined, leaving infrastructure and broader planning as major concerns. Combat combines artillery, movable fortifications, subterranean routes, troop formations, snares, smoke cover, toxic grenades, elephants, chariots, mounted units, and forces unique to each faction. Caravans may supply merchandise, though players can instead attack them. Each side follows its own military approach, and defeating the computer-controlled opponent depends on choices made under a time limit.
