We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…

- Hip Hop listeners interested in a game adapted from an album
- Groups of up to 4 players looking for a shared action RPG
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who prefer guided navigation may find the lack of maps and quest markers demanding.
- Those looking for a low-challenge experience may be put off by the game's stated high difficulty.
- Players seeking a solo-focused RPG may find the co-op battle emphasis less suited to their preference.
Our take on Tales of the Elements
The no-map, no-marker progression trades guided navigation for a less signposted route through puzzles and secrets. That choice may suit players who want to explore without prompts, but leaves less direction for those who rely on quest guidance.
What is Tales of the Elements?
Tales of the Elements is a 2D action RPG based on an album with the same title.
It blends Japanese-style role-playing storytelling, Hip Hop influences, and couch battles for as many as four players. Optional mechanics draw on the musical genre, while light puzzles guide progression through areas without maps or quest markers. Secret bosses and a hidden unlockable add concealed discoveries. Eight fast-moving 3D special stages provide another way to reach secrets. Dialogue features hand-drawn character portraits and voice recordings, while the soundtrack mixes Hip Hop and RPG-inspired music. Buying the game also includes a complimentary copy of the Tales of the Elements FC album.
