Our take on Swordlord
The focus on body-positioned weapon swings gives combat a distinct physical rule set, but it also narrows the experience around repeated arena encounters. Players seeking exploration, varied objectives, or a broader progression structure may find less variety here.
What is Swordlord?
Swordlord is a 2D action game with an art style inspired by 1980s games.
Combat centers on swinging a weapon around the character’s body, using momentum for both attacking and defending. Players face increasingly dangerous waves of gladiators and can purchase weapons and armor between encounters. The objective is to fight through the arena, reach the Duke of War, and earn freedom. The game combines physical positioning, weapon control, and tactical decisions in a gladiator-focused progression.
How Swordlord plays
- 01Momentum-Based Combat
- Weapon movement around the character’s body serves both offensive and defensive purposes.
- 02Arena Progression
- Enemy waves become more dangerous as the player advances toward the Duke of War.
- 03Equipment Purchases
- Weapons and armor can be bought to support survival during later fights.
