Weapons can be discovered or knocked loose from opponents, including bottles, chairs, rifles, bazookas, flamethrowers, and chainsaws. Versus accommodates 1–8 participants; Survival and Campaign allow 1–4. Every mode offers offline solo play, online matches, or local shared-screen play for up to 4 people. Three narrative campaigns take place in a retro science-fiction world. Fighters can be personalized with skins, clothing, accessories, colors, and gender choices. User creation tools include a map editor, C# Script API, Steam Workshop publishing, and a utility for making custom language packs.
