Our take on SUPER BOMBERMAN R 2
The description emphasizes a large amount of series content, but gives little detail about the Story Mode beyond travel to new planets and a threat to the universe. The most concrete distinctions are the four battle modes and the stage editor, so the advertised breadth is clearer for multiplayer than for the solo story.
What is SUPER BOMBERMAN R 2?
SUPER BOMBERMAN R 2 combines a single-player Story Mode with offline and online battles.
Its four battle modes include Standard, Grand Prix, Battle 64, and Castle. In Castle, one side defends a treasure while the other tries to take it; Grand Prix pits two teams against each other, and Battle 64 supports up to 64 players competing to survive. Online play includes Grade Match, which pairs players with similar ability, and Room Match, where participants can choose modes and rules.
Offline battles use one console and require controllers for the number of players. The Stage Editor lets players build Castle stages with blocks and gimmicks, then share them online. Story Mode sends Bomberman and the Ellons to new planets to confront a threat to the universe.
