Our take on Sunderfolk
The shared-access pitch applies to couch play with phone controls. Remote mouse-and-keyboard multiplayer has a different ownership rule: every participant needs the game, so the free-join arrangement is narrower than the broad co-op framing suggests.
What is Sunderfolk?
Sunderfolk is a cooperative tactical RPG for groups of up to four players.
Parties take on missions, select turn order, use skill cards, adapt tactics, and confront bosses. Online multiplayer supports mouse and keyboard, while couch co-op uses phones connected through the free Sunderfolk Controller app. With phone controls, only the host needs to own the game; online play with mouse and keyboard requires every player to have a copy. Between encounters, the party can visit Arden, improve shops, find equipment, eat meals, and talk with residents. The free trial covers the first four missions, includes the full hero roster, and carries progress into the purchased game.
How Sunderfolk plays
