Our take on GATE
Rather than presenting a standalone RPG campaign, GATE provides tools for groups to run tabletop sessions online. Its focus is on shared maps, scene controls, dice, and chat, leaving the game structure to the people hosting and playing.
What is GATE?
GATE is a tool for hosting and joining online tabletop games with friends.
A server browser supports finding or hosting games, and drawing tools let hosts mark up a session as it unfolds. Maps can be loaded during combat, with fog controls to conceal or reveal parts of the scene. The software supports 2D and 3D artwork, including STL, FBX, and OBJ files. Players can share maps and tokens through Steam Workshop. Other tools include a dice roller for complex rolls and in-game chat. GATE includes token artwork and SRD spells and monsters for D&D 5th edition. Friends can join a host's game using the demo version for free.
