Our take on StressOut
The defining detail is destruction controlled through VR hand and finger gestures, including multi-finger input on Valve Index controllers.
What is StressOut?
StressOut is a virtual reality action game about causing destruction while racing against a clock.
An evil AI villain has frozen the world in time, leaving it grey and dull. Players use weapons, superpowers, and hand gestures to damage their surroundings, find hidden areas, earn rewards, and gain upgrades. Arcade Mode generates levels whenever a run begins and includes roguelite elements. Legacy Mode offers slower puzzle-focused play with destruction and exploration. The game uses multi-finger tracking on Valve Index controllers, making finger movements part of interaction rather than only displaying them. Leaderboards provide a competitive option, while the destruction-focused structure also supports casual play.
How StressOut plays
- 01Generated Arcade Runs
- Arcade Mode creates levels at the start of each run and combines fast destruction with roguelite-style upgrades.
- 02Legacy Puzzle Mode
- A slower mode combines destruction with exploration of concealed areas.
- 03Hand Gesture Controls
- Valve Index controllers use tracked finger movements for in-game gestures.
- 04Destruction Rewards
- Causing more damage provides rewards that can be used for upgrades and play-style changes.
- 05Leaderboard Competition
- Players can compare their performance through leaderboards.
