Our take on Stick Tongue
The tongue-centered controls give the game a distinct climbing format, but they reduce movement variety. The design trades conventional platforming options for physics-based ascent, where each launch can determine whether progress continues or is lost.
What is Stick Tongue?
Play as Frogus, a frog trying to reach the sky and ask for rain after humanity has depleted Earth’s resources.
His tongue functions as a grappling hook for climbing through a vertical landscape of ruins. Each tongue shot can send him upward or downward, making ascent depend on physics. Beginner Mode turns reached flags into unlimited respawn points. Normal Mode grants three respawns at each flag, with access restored by reaching the next one. Extreme Mode removes flags and respawns. No Jump Mode removes jumping and leaves the tongue as the only climbing method. The game frames this physics-based ascent as an absurd adventure about bringing rain back to the remaining world.
How Stick Tongue plays
- 01Tongue Grappling
- Frogus attaches his tongue while climbing through the vertical environment.
- 02Physics-Based Movement
- Each tongue launch can move Frogus higher or cause him to fall.
- 03Four Game Modes
- The modes change respawn rules, checkpoints, and access to jumping.
- 04Variable Respawns
- Beginner Mode provides unlimited returns at reached flags, while Normal Mode gives three and Extreme Mode removes them.
- 05Tongue-Only Climbing
- No Jump Mode removes jumping from the available movement options.
