Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want a combat-focused game may hit a wall when the central challenge is escaping while constrained and avoiding guards and obstacles.
- Players seeking a grounded setting may bounce off the mix of kittens, dynamite, teleporters, and futuristic devices across the asylum areas.
- Players looking for cooperative or multiplayer play may not find a fit in this escape-focused story.
Our take on STATUS: INSANE
The first likely sticking point is Igor’s straitjacket: players who expect unrestricted movement encounter that constraint as part of the escape itself. Guards and other hazards add another obstacle layer, while Flead’s interference puts pressure on the attempt from within the story.
What is STATUS: INSANE?
Igor tries to escape a mental asylum while restricted by a straitjacket and facing guards armed with tranquilizers, along with other obstacles.
His imaginary friend Flead also tries to stop the escape. The story unfolds across three multi-level areas: a section with kittens, an ancient area containing abandoned motorized machines and dynamite, and a top-secret zone with teleporters and futuristic devices. Players can collect notes left by the head doctor, find artwork, and gather hats. The game also includes 11 music tracks composed and arranged by Toni Aaltola and Tommi Ilonen; the soundtrack was nominated for Best Game Music at the 2018 Game Audio Awards.
