The matter system ties movement, puzzles, and combat to the same experimental tool. That unification limits the game’s variety of interaction: progression depends on learning how a small set of material states behaves across different situations.
What is State of Matter?
State of Matter combines first-person shooting, environmental puzzles, and facility exploration.
Players carry the Phasm IV SLG, an experimental mining device that projects a new element as gas, solid crystals, or another state. These forms interact with the derelict mining outpost in different ways: heated gas can remove ice, while crystals can form platforms. The same matter states also affect hostile mining robots, requiring experimentation during combat. Progress leads deeper into the Kuiper Belt facility, where environmental discoveries reveal what happened to its scientists and whether the incident was accidental. The game centers on using the element’s changing properties to cross obstacles, defeat automated defenders, and investigate the abandoned outpost.
