Our take on Spaera
Rather than separating puzzle solving from combat, Spaera makes board placement the fight itself. Cascades build attack opportunities, while spells turn clearing patterns into direct pressure on the opposing player.
What is Spaera?
Spaera combines match-3 puzzles with head-to-head combat.
Players select from eight characters, each with an individual story and four spells covering attack and protection effects. During a match, continuously arriving pieces form colored and shaped arrangements. Matching at least three blocks clears them, while unmatched colors fall and can create chains and combos. Clearing blocks and special pieces fills a power meter used to cast spells on the player’s board or against an opponent. A match ends when one player cannot place the next piece. The game includes a campaign against the computer, local multiplayer, and online matchmaking with ranks and ladders.
How Spaera plays
- 01Eight playable characters
- Each character has a separate story and four spells with offensive or defensive uses.
- 02Cascading match mechanics
- Cleared blocks cause other pieces to drop, creating opportunities for chained clears and combos.
- 03Spell-based combat
- A meter charged by clears and special pieces allows effects that target either board.
- 04Multiple battle modes
- Matches are available against the computer, locally, or through online matchmaking.
- 05Ranked online play
- Online competition includes matchmaking, ranks, and ladders.
