Our take on SOOT
Rather than making military expansion the central strategy structure, SOOT places planetary restoration at its core. Its campaign also combines simulation with interactive comics and a story spanning two historical eras.
What is SOOT?
SOOT is a strategy simulation about terraforming planets from a roaming space station.
Players control scientist Laura MacKenzie as she studies an ancient journal, learns lost terraforming technology, and investigates the Federation’s history and an approaching catastrophe. Each of the 17 planets presents distinct conditions and objectives, requiring management of environmental balances and counterbalances. Progression follows the story through levels, in-level dialogue, and 14 interactive comic-book scenes. More than 20 structures support the terraforming process. The narrative combines political conflict, technological challenges, and mysteries spanning two eras, presented through a stylized steampunk science-fiction aesthetic.
