Our take on Sons of Saturn
Its defining detail is the use of developer-taken photographs of abandoned real-world locations as the basis for much of Minerva’s environment, turning the underground city into a surreal reconstruction of places outside the game.
What is Sons of Saturn?
Return to Minerva, a buried technological city collapsing around its abandoned sewers, rooftops, asylums, hospitals, and schools.
This first-person point-and-click adventure follows an investigation into what happened to the protagonist’s mother after the protagonist fled the city. Exploration involves navigating the city, collecting clues, and reconstructing personal history while facing supernatural remnants of the dead. The narrative examines pain, guilt, and loss, alongside the protagonist’s inner life, including a talking stuffed cat that no one else can hear. Most game assets come from photographs taken by the developers in abandoned locations around the world, giving Minerva a setting built from real places.
