After dying while rescuing a girl from an autumn fire, Shyou remains in the world as a soul.
A death messenger tells him that he has nine days to fulfil his desire. During a vision of autumn leaves gathering at a crossroads, Shyou encounters a girl he feels connected to but cannot identify.
The story follows his effort to understand that bond through four possible figures: Saki, a kind-hearted girl with albinism; Maki, a lively Student Union President; Mai, an active girl who helps her father operate a game shop; and Suzu, a shrine psychic who can see souls. The central mystery asks which of them is truly connected to Shyou, beginning with the fire incident that ended his ordinary life.
