Our take on Sonny
Instead of treating combat as a route for repeated leveling, Sonny makes tactical ability combinations central to defeating formidable enemies. Its undead protagonist and conspiracy-driven science-fiction setting also replace the more familiar fantasy framing associated with many party-based RPGs.
What is Sonny?
Sonny is a turn-based, combat-focused sci-fi RPG about an undead character who returns without his memories.
Caught between mutated creatures and a paramilitary force, Sonny travels with party members who have distinct abilities while uncovering secrets, conspiracies, and his own role in the conflict. Battles require selecting and combining skill effects to overcome formidable enemies, with strategy and creative planning replacing repeated grinding. New abilities can be unlocked, and equipment can be upgraded as the campaign develops. The game presents an original storyline, artwork by Jet Kimchrea, and music by David Orr. It is a new adventure rather than a sequel or direct remake of the earlier Flash RPG series.

Sonny compared to similar games
Back to the Dawn is a prison-escape RPG focused on fighting, investigation, and breaking free, while Sonny centers on turn-based battles against mutated creatures and a paramilitary force. Shogun Showdown also uses turn-based combat, but it builds around attack tiles, deck construction, and roguelike progression; Sonny instead combines skills, party abilities, equipment upgrades, and a story campaign.
