Solace State follows Chloe, a young hacker searching for her missing friend as a biotech crackdown spreads through Abraxa.
Choices involving friendships, romance, communities, activism, and militarization shape the story and its treatment of human rights. Chloe can use social hacking to examine power dynamics, take on another person’s identification, and find encrypted data. The game includes 31 illustrated recurring characters, three dateable characters, hand-drawn character art, 3D city environments, and camera effects that reveal information through buildings. One playthrough lasts over 8 hours, with more than 14 hours of content across the branches and 38 possible endings. On Steam Deck, the mouse layout or touchscreen is currently the preferred control method because the ABXY buttons are sticky.
