Our take on Slice of Life
Players who expect forgiving exploration may bounce off at the edge-navigation system: approaching an edge can make the deer lose balance and fall. The survival loop also puts health, thirst, and hunger in view, with other inhabitants able to turn an encounter fatal.
What is Slice of Life?
A fawn separated from its family must survive in an unfamiliar world while trying to find its parents.
The game divides the world into areas with different survival prospects. Rest spots let the deer recover health, spring water addresses thirst, and herbs provide temporary relief from hunger. Stones can restore the deer to life, while encounters with other inhabitants may be fatal. The deer can also fall if it approaches an edge, so navigating the environment carries a specific risk. The story centers on being alone, surviving a difficult period, and facing tough decisions along the way.
How Slice of Life plays
- 01Survival areas
- Different parts of the world vary in how well the fawn can survive.
- 02Health recovery
- Rest locations allow the deer to regain health.
- 03Thirst and hunger
- Spring water addresses thirst, while herbs stave off hunger temporarily.
- 04Fatal encounters
- Other inhabitants can appear suddenly and may kill the deer.
