ActionIs Skull Horde worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who enjoy real-time auto battlers with squad-building decisions
- Dungeon-crawler fans who want procedurally generated runs and loot-driven builds
- Strategy players interested in merging units and combining class-based effects
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want direct control over attacks or individual minions will hit a wall when combat runs independently.
- Players who prefer fixed character builds may bounce off the unit purchases, rerolls, merges, and loot combinations required during runs.
- Players seeking a conventional dungeon crawler with manual combat may find the auto-battling structure too indirect.
Our take on Skull Horde
The bounce point arrives when combat starts: minions act independently, leaving players to shape the squad, route, and upgrades rather than direct attacks. Anyone expecting moment-to-moment character control may stop there.
What is Skull Horde?
Play as a flying skull necromancer who explores procedurally generated dungeons and raises a skeleton army against an endless flesh-based enemy horde.
Each run involves choosing routes, collecting loot from chests and shrines, purchasing units, and selecting upgrades while battles happen in real time. Units fight independently, so progression centers on squad composition, positioning through exploration choices, and build decisions. Duplicate units can combine into stronger forms and eventually gain distinctive abilities. Loot interacts with unit classes and tags, while resources allow rerolls of available units and items. Multiple dungeon types feature different enemy groups and challenges. Playable characters, unlockable perks, and challenge rewards add further build options between runs.
