Our take on SkateLab
The store presentation emphasizes physics, custom spots, multiplayer, and replay tools, while the current purpose is notably narrow: free skating and experimenting with board mechanics. Early access frames skating itself as the main motivation, which may not suit players seeking a more structured activity.
What is SkateLab?
SkateLab is a physics-driven skateboarding sandbox centered on board control, free skating, and experimentation.
Players can practice movement, develop a personal style, and explore the mechanics of skateboarding. Multiplayer free-skate supports sessions alone or with friends. An object tool allows custom skate spots to be built and modified by moving, rotating, scaling, and bending objects. Replays can be rewound and played back, while clips can be recorded with screen-capture software. The game is launching in early access and currently presents skating itself as the main motivation. Its available activities include learning the controls, creating locations, skating with others, and reviewing recorded tricks.
How SkateLab plays
- 01Custom skate spots
- An object tool lets players move, rotate, scale, and bend pieces while creating locations.
- 02Free-skate multiplayer
- Skating sessions can be played alone or with friends.
- 03Replay recording
- Tricks can be rewound and reviewed before clips are captured with screen-recording software.
- 04Dual-stick controls
- Board movement uses a two-stick control scheme.

ScooterFlow also centers on physics-based freestyle riding in skatepark and street settings, with scooter customization and trick combinations. SkateLab instead focuses on skateboarding, player-built spots, free-skate multiplayer, and replay recording.
