Our take on Shadow Fate
Rather than limiting character abilities to combat, the game carries party composition into exploration. The genre’s usual battle-focused roles also affect treasure access, enemy interactions, and dungeon information, while the EX meter adds a fighting-game-style resource decision to turn-based encounters.
What is Shadow Fate?
Shadow Fate is a turn-based JRPG set in Atro, where a supernatural shadow spawn serves a vengeance organization after its immortal leader awakens.
Battles show enemy encounters on the map and use HP, SP, and EX meters. EX can be spent to expand skill effects or increase combo damage, creating different tactical choices between battles. The party can contain up to three characters, selected from eight available characters. Each character has exploration abilities that affect how environments are traversed, such as reaching distant treasure chests, charming enemies, or speaking with the dead for dungeon clues. Party choices can also open new options in areas visited earlier. The game includes fully animated battle sprites and a soundtrack.
