We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Strategy players who want to influence several countries instead of ruling one directly

- Players who like tracing connected economic, social, and military consequences
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players expecting direct control of a nation will encounter the game’s indirect-influence structure immediately
- Players seeking a primarily military strategy game may find the political, social, and economic systems too broad
- Players looking for settings outside 1685 and 1775 will find the available historical periods narrow
Our take on Secret Government
Players will bounce when they try to command a country directly or attack one themselves. The game requires influence through agents, institutions, laws, and political conditions, making indirect manipulation the point where conventional grand-strategy expectations stop applying.
What is Secret Government?
Lead a secret brotherhood rather than a single country in this global strategy game.
Send agents to recruit public servants and enter institutions of power. Influence governments through laws, ideologies, military policies, economic policies, and forms of government, then provoke wars, peace, or alliances. Countries contain social estates whose members can be born, die, migrate, and change roles. Production, resource use, trade, food, industry, and military strength interact, creating consequences across the world. Choose a desired world order, develop the Grand Master’s traits, and assign brothers to specific tasks. Free play includes the years 1685 and 1775. Two story campaigns cover England’s Glorious Revolution and the thirteen colonies’ struggle for independence, with missions that can follow or alter historical events.
