Is Sancticide worth it for you?

Play it if you…
Good fit- Action RPG players who want melee-centered third-person combat in an apocalyptic setting
- Players who enjoy learning persistent world rules through repeated runs
- Fans of dark biblical fantasy who want varied enemies and supernatural combat abilities
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a conventional linear action RPG may find the repeated-run structure less suitable
- Players who prefer ranged combat or low-intensity encounters may not suit its melee-focused battles
- Players looking for stealth, survival crafting, or first-person shooting should consider another type of game
Our take on Sancticide
Rather than treating death as a simple setback, the game makes each defeat part of its structure: repeated runs reveal the rules of a persistent world. Its biblical Apocalypse setting and Kosherness system also replace more familiar fantasy conventions with religiously framed categories and powers.
What is Sancticide?
Play as Ezechiel, a newly recruited sin collector serving Them at The Top in a world shaped by the biblical Apocalypse.
Explore a persistent setting where death provides insight into its rules and allows each run to inform the next approach. Combat combines arena-fighter intensity with third-person action, using sacred melee weapons, unholy ranged equipment, and Purple powers. These powers include passive enhancements and active abilities that can affect time, perception, and enemies. Foes have different appearances, movement patterns, and weaknesses, including Sinners, Debtors, and fanatical Proselytes. The game also uses a Kosherness distinction, classifying items and beings as acceptable or unacceptable to Them at The Top.
How Sancticide plays
- 01Mixed combat arsenal
- Combine close-range sacred weapons, ranged equipment, and supernatural Purple abilities during fights.
- 02Persistent world rules
- Death reveals information about the setting's systems, allowing later runs to reflect previous attempts.
- 03Varied enemy behavior
- Opponents differ in appearance, movement, and vulnerabilities, including Sinners, Debtors, and Proselytes.
- 04Purple abilities
- Use passive survivability improvements alongside active effects that manipulate time, perception, or enemies.
Sancticide compared to similar games
Sancticide combines third-person melee combat, ranged gear, supernatural abilities, and repeated runs in a biblical Apocalypse. Ghost of a Tale is an action RPG centered on exploration, immersion, stealth, disguises, and conversations, while Blood West uses first-person stealth shooting in a Weird West horror setting. Vagante presents dark-fantasy adventuring rather than Sancticide's third-person sin-collector combat structure.
