Our take on SAELIG
The defining structure is family succession: after a character dies, the story continues as one of their children, carrying the household’s story across generations.
What is SAELIG?
SAELIG combines simulation, strategy, RPG elements, trading, and business management in Dark Ages England.
Players guide a family through work, commerce, property ownership, crime, hunting, construction, and other livelihoods while seeking survival and prosperity. Characters are born, live, and die, and after a character dies, the story continues as one of their children. Seasons, weather, fires, diseases, and Viking raids affect the world. Players can build or buy structures, establish businesses, trade between markets, develop land, and improve skills through repeated activities. The game has no fixed endpoint and continues to change through updates, presenting an evolving setting rather than a defined campaign conclusion.

SAELIG compared to similar games
Old World also follows leaders and heirs across multiple generations in a historical strategy setting, but it focuses on directing an empire and managing political succession. SAELIG instead combines family life with individual work, trading, property, businesses, and roles within a living world.
